Park Ranger 

Status: Regular Full Time/Non-Exempt 

Starting salary range:  $20.00/hour - $22.00/hour; commensurate on experience 

Reports to: Director of Buildings & Grounds

Our Buildings & Grounds Team is foundational to our success, so we invite you to bring your Park Ranger talents and then expand your knowledge and skills as you work alongside our Grounds Team to keep our green spaces healthy, beautiful, and safe. As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining areas throughout the grounds. Environmental management, debris cleanup, and aesthetic landscaping are all part of the job.  This position requires being able to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.  

Park Ranger responsibilities include:  

▪ Patrols the park, trails, and facilities on foot and by vehicle. 

▪ Educates visitors on the property and enforces property rules; determines when issues require escalation, emergency services, or police assistance and makes the call when necessary; anticipates and solves problems and/or provides reports to appropriate team members. 

▪ Monitors park, trails, and facilities for unsafe or deteriorating conditions; checks the grounds and facilities for vandalism and reports security concerns.  

▪ Locks gates and bathroom doors and ensures that park and recreation areas and facilities are secure after hours. 

▪ Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the park and its facilities, including emptying trash and custodial work. 

▪ Assists with daily operations of park facilities, scheduled activities, and equestrian operations when required. 

▪ Works with volunteers and other park staff.  

▪ Works independently with minimal supervision as well as functions effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, in a rapidly changing environment. 

▪ Demonstrates strong skills in working with the public and interacting with people of all ages, interests, viewpoints, and backgrounds. 

Our ideal candidate will: 

▪ Have the ability to enforce rules and ordinances in a firm and courteous manner. 

▪ Be willing and able to work weekends and after hours, as needed. 

▪ Have a current/valid Driver’s License and be an insured driver. 

▪ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  

▪ Be able to successfully pass a background check and provide work references. 

▪ Have at least one (1) year of experience as a Park Ranger or in a similar position. 

▪ Be able and willing to perform a wide range of tasks. 

▪ Safely operate company vehicles and use and maintain essential equipment.  

▪ Participate in removal of snow, ice, and tree debris to keep the site open and safe for visitors and staff. Physical Requirements 

▪ Perform work in all types of weather, often for extended periods of time. 

▪ Transfer machinery, equipment, and supplies in excess of 50 pounds.  

▪ Able to traverse various types of terrain that may be rough, uneven, or slippery.

Buildings & Grounds Team Member

▪ Bring at least one year of experience in property, building, and/or equestrian facility maintenance (equestrian event preparation background is a plus).  

▪ Be skilled in performing general maintenance tasks and operating equipment and vehicles in a safe manner.  

▪ Be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as function effectively within a multidisciplinary team, in a rapidly changing environment. 

▪ Demonstrate effective communication skills in a variety of circumstances. 

▪ Be willing and able to work weekends and after hours, as needed. 

▪ Have a current/valid Driver’s License and be an insured driver. 

▪ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  

▪ Be able to successfully pass a background check (required of all Park employees) and provide work references.
